Topic 5    Mobile Phones
It goes without saying that the mobile phone is one the most amazing inventions in our world. They have changed our life, whether we realize it or not. We can’t even imagine what life will be like in the future if we stop using this means of communication.

Mobile phones are used by almost everybody these days. When you meet a new person or when you have a new friend, the first information you take from that person is his or her mobile phone number.

There are a lot of advantages of this invention. Firstly, you always stay in touch: anybody who knows your mobile number can contact you. If you are travelling abroad, you can use the roaming facility to get connected anywhere and anytime.

 Secondly, you can use the Internet, check your mail when you are out of your home. You can also reply to important messages or e-mails from your mobile phone. Furthermore, you can use it for education and fun. Every time when you travel by public transport you can see a lot of people who read books, play games or listen to music with the help of mobile phones.

On the other hand, there are some negative aspects of using mobile phones. We prefer making a phone call to face-to-face communication with people. Moreover, you are always connected to the world and responsible for answering a phone call. As a result, you lose your privacy and freedom from your daily routine work when you are connected.  Finally, using mobile phones for a long time is definitely bad for health. Experts believe that they can cause some health problems due to their radiation.

On the one hand, the benefits of computers can’t be denied. Firstly, they save valuable time and space. Storing large amounts of information can be done in a couple of minutes at the touch of the button. It makes our life much easier and we can do our work much faster than people could in the past.

Secondly, with the access to the Internet we can explore the world from the comfort of our homes. We can read the news, watch films, listen to music or do the shopping on-line. We can make friends in many countries of the world and communicate with them easily.

 Moreover, computers can be educational and fun. From a very young age, children can gain basic computer skills: different programmes allow them to learn, draw, paint and play. School subjects become more interesting when presented on a computer screen. There is a variety of amusing games for older children to play.

On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks of using computers. To begin with, staring at the computer screen for a long time can damage your eyes. Your back also suffers when you sit in front of the computer for hours.

What is more, many people especially teenagers become dependent on computers. They spend all their free time in front of computers playing games or using different social networks but isolating themselves from other people of their age.

Finally, we understand that the more work is done by computers, the more people all over the world lose their jobs and become unemployed.

All things considered, I believe that the computer has more advantages than disadvantages. They improve the quality of our life, but only when used sensibly. I’m sure computers are our future whether we like it or not.
